Corona virus update: May 1 2020

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy met with President Trump in Washington yesterday. The President and governor announced the federal government would be send 550,000 test kits to New Jersey. Yesterday the state health department announced over 400 corona virus related deaths. Then walked back the number by saying yesterdays total reflect past cases just confirmed. Over 118,000 New Jersey residents have tested positive for corona virus. Deaths have risen to over 7,200. On a brighter note, hospitalizations are at their lowest number since April 4th. In Sussex County 6 more deaths were confirmed by the health department. The total number of deaths is now 109 with 905 residents testing positive over the past 7 weeks. Yesterday Pennsylvania's Health Department announced 479 new deaths. Then for the first time revealed over 65 percent of Pennsylvania's corona virus deaths have been residents in long term care facilities. Pennsylvania has had 45,000 test positive for corona virus. Over 2,000 have died. New York now has over 300,000 who have tested positive. Over 18,000 have died.
