Netflix is one step closer to establishing a production studio in the Garden State. The streaming giant has pledged nearly $850 million to construct a production complex at the former Fort Monmouth campus in Monmouth County, a sprawling 300-acre site spanning Oceanport and Eatontown.

The ambitious project includes the construction of 12 sound stages and is expected to generate over 3,500 construction jobs. In a nod to community development, the plan also incorporates space for affordable housing.

Governor Murphy demonstrated his support for the project by signing off on the planning committee’s recent meeting minutes. This endorsement allows the amendment to be considered by host municipalities and the public, marking a significant step forward in the realization of the project.
