As the holiday season reaches its peak, the last Saturday before Christmas, known as Super Saturday, is set to be a significant shopping day in New Jersey with an estimated 142 million people expected to hit the stores nationwide according to the National Retail Federation. This number underscores the importance of this day to both consumers and retailers, as last-minute shoppers scramble to complete their holiday purchases.

Malls and stores are extending their operating hours to accommodate the surge. Among the many shopping destinations, in North Jersey, American Dream Meadowlands is preparing for a large number of shoppers with extended hours until 10pm Saturday, and 10am-7pm on Christmas Eve. Rockaway Townsquare Mall will be opening an hour early on Saturday at 9am - and open from 8am to 6pm on Sunday. In Paramus, New Jersey, where four malls are not permitted to open on Sundays, Super Saturday takes on even greater significance. Shoppers in this area will have to make the most of the extended Saturday hours, as there will be no shopping opportunity on the following day.

In South Jersey, Tanger Outlets Atlantic City is also offering extended shopping hours on Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sunday from 8am to 6pm, the Cherry Hill Mall has announced extended hours until 10 p.m. on Super Saturday and 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and the Hamilton Mall will be open Saturday from 8am to 9pm and Sunday from 7am to 6pm.

Retailers are gearing up for the rush by offering enticing deals and large sales. Consumer Affairs highlighted some of the best deals from the biggest retailers, signaling that Super Saturday may be one of the last opportunities to snag discounted items before the close of the holiday season.

Despite the traditional hype around Black Friday, Super Saturday is fast becoming a contender for the biggest shopping day of the year. As the last full shopping weekend before Christmas, it attracts millions of last-minute shoppers, making it a crucial day for retailers6.
