The winter season is coming to an end, and with it, the last chance for skiing and snowboarding in the Tri-State area. This weekend marks the final opportunity for winter sports enthusiasts to hit the slopes at several regional ski resorts.

In Vernon, Mountain Creek is gearing up for its last day of skiing and riding this Sunday. The resort will be hosting its annual pond skim competition, a fun-filled event where skiers and snowboarders attempt to glide across a man-made pond without sinking.

Over in the Poconos, several ski resorts are also preparing to close their doors for the season. Shawnee Mountain, Camelback Resort, Big Boulder, and Montage Mountain will all wrap up their seasons this Sunday. Elk Mountain is set to conclude its season a day earlier on Saturday.

Two other local resorts, Campgaw Mountain and Mount Peter have already closed for the season.

With spring's early arrival, resorts across the region have been working hard to preserve what snow they have left. Many are offering special hours and promotions for this final weekend of the season. So if you're looking to squeeze in one last run down the mountain this year, now's your chance!
