The day I visited Venice Beach it was very hot and my phone ran out of power. So I only have a few pictures. It was a lot of fun though.
If you don't already know Venice Beach is famous for being "muscle" beach. There are gym's right on the main street where people work out for all to see. I liked Venice Beach because it's probably the best place in southern California to people watch. You will see some interesting characters if you go there. Many of them charge you a few dollars to take a picture with them so they are also small business in their own way.
There was a guy who rolls out a baby grand piano every day and performs. People in movie costumes who are happy to act the parts of characters they are dressed like. Medical weed is legal in California and there are plenty of places in Venice Beach that will do an "evaluation" to see if you need it. Once again pure entrepreneurs.
I saw plenty of great skate boarders, surfers and fun performers right on the beach. My cousin told me many of the performers have been there for years. You can give them a few dollars if you like. The local streets were filled with charming little houses that were built decades ago. No cookie cutter houses here. Each one was unique. But what I liked best about Venice Beach was how friendly the local people were. They just loved to talk answer your question and find out where I came there from.
I hope you get a chance to visit one day. It's worth
