I always enjoy being a part of the Spring and Fall Open House's at Sussex County Community College. Over the years I've watched SCCC grow from a few classrooms in the Sussex Tech building to having it's own beautiful campus. Complete with new buildings and over 2 thousand students. Tomorrow's open house is for anyone interested in a degree program or a technical program at SCCC. I always say going to our local community college will save students 10's of thousands of dollars. Here are the actual numbers: The total cost of the first 2 years at one of New Jersey's State school's is around $52,000. Going to Sussex County Community College for the first two years will cost $14,000. That's a difference of almost $40,000. Who wouldn't want to save almost 40K?
If you choose SCCC there's a good chance you can finish the first two years of college debt free! Over 72% percent of SCCC students graduate with an Associates Degree debt free. There's plenty of financial aid available too. Almost 2/3's of SCCC students receive financial aid. Our local community college offers over 100 degree and certificate programs and 12 athletic teams.
Tomorrow's open house starts and 9 and continues until noon. Many faculty and staff will be there to speak with potential students in person. Student ambassadors will be leading tours of the campus. There's no application fee if you apply during the open house. The free breakfast is really nice too. I expect to see many high school seniors and their families there tomorrow morning. I hope you'll stop by and say "hello" to me while you're there.
