In what’s best described as a never-ending game of “Made You Look,” a mobile security company says that Americans just can’t stop checking their smartphones.

In fact, 63 percent of the respondents admitted in Lookout’s survey of phone habits that they look at their cells at least once an hour.

Perhaps even a bit more disturbingly, nine percent of Americans can’t help but sneak a peek every five minutes.

The survey also reveals that as much as they love their smartphones, fewer than half of Americans protect their privacy with passwords, which would come in handy since a third of owners would be horrified to see their phone’s contents displayed on a jumbo screen.
