Lawmaker Proposes New Bill To Ban Video Chat While Driving

Stemming from the controversy involving a video taken of a van driver video chatting while transporting a student in High Point this week, a Democratic assemblyman from Bayonne, Nicholas Chiaravalloti is proposing changes to distracted driving laws which would ban face time video chats.  He says his goal is to eliminate the loophole, however opponents say that the laws we already have to prevent distracted driving already do cover this issue.  It does seem ridiculous to me when someone thinks that a mounted phone can be okay because they're not technically using their hands on cell phones.  Distracted driving is distracted driving, right?  These are the official distracted driver laws in New Jersey straight from their site.
