Two borough police officers are suing Franklin for millions of dollars in damages after both officers were suspended pending termination. The lawsuits allege unlawful termination and a lack of due process. Attorney Jeffrey Warden represents both officers. Suspended patrolman Jeffrey Snyder's notice was delivered to borough officials yesterday. Last month suspended lieutenant Jeffrey Smith filed a similar lawsuit against borough and police officials. Snyder is seeking 3 Million dollars in damages.
In his claim Snyder alleges "acts of discrimination" that were retaliation for actions taken by his father who is a retired police officer and current borough councilman.
Another story in this morning's New Jersey Herald says Christopher Acker of Newton is suing Franklin Police Captain Seamus Geddis for unlawful arrest and malicious prosecution. Acker is represented by Sparta attorney George Daggett. Daggett also represents the Franklin Fire Department in the event there are charges filed after gambling equipment was seized at the firehouse on Monday. Are you following all this?
