Hundreds of complaints filed against people driving state owned cars

A New Jersey hotline number to report aggressive driving by state employees in state vehicles received 298 complaints last year. That amounts to about 1 and a half complaints a day. The State of New Jersey owns more than 5 thousand vehicles. It's a small percentage but still a little surprising considering every state owned vehicle has a bumper sticker with the hotline number on it. The bumper sticker says "if you see this vehicle being misused call 1-800-992-2761." Common complaints to the hotline include driving at excessive speeds, weaving in and out of traffic and tailgating. Three complaints allege state employees "flipped the bird" to other drivers. NJ Advance Media obtained this information by making an open records request to the State of New Jersey.
