New Jersey's Pension Fund did very well in 2019

The Director of New Jersey's Division of Investment reported "unequivocally strong" returns for it's public worker's pension fund in 2019. Yesterday, Corey Amon told the state's investment council the $80 billion dollar fund saw a 16.4 percent return last year. Global stocks which are about half the portfolio were up 27 percent. So far for this fiscal year the fund's over all return on investment has been almost 5 percent. The fund plans for an average return of 7.5 percent each fiscal year. Advocates who want to see more tax money budgeted for the fund say it's one of the most under funded pension systems in the country. New Jersey's total state budget is $38 Billion.
