Twin Cedars Senior Living in Shohola, Pennsylvania is facing a federal lawsuit that alleges the facility sent an 81 year old resident home without proper notice and contributed to his death. Eugene Hamill moved into Twin Cedars in July 2018 suffering from hypertension, heart disease and bone cancer. He was sent home to Toms River, New Jersey 2 months later on a 3 hour Uber ride without a required cardiac life vest. On the way he suffered a heart attack and stroke. He was taken to Community Hospital in Toms River where he was placed on a ventilator. Hamill died last September. The lawsuit accuses Twin Cedars of ignoring discharge instructions from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Hamill's family filed the lawsuit in Scranton this week. In the suit the family says Twin Cedars sent the 81 year old home in the unsafe situation because it could no longer profit from him being there.
