Maybe governor Murphy is starting to hear what many state legislators have been trying to tell him. Last night, during a live interview on NJTV the governor said he would be "shocked" if New Jersey's beaches are not open by Memorial Day. The traditional start of the tourist season at the New Jersey Shore is just two weeks from now. Murphy said we should expect "very specific" guidance before the beaches are allowed to open. The governor also talked about the possibility of opening non essential businesses. He said curbside service, non-essential construction and elective surgeries could resume "sooner than later" and promosed more guidance on that possibility in the next week or so. Opening summer camps is still up in the air because Murphy said he sees "a lot of degrees of freedom" in outdoor camps. Well, all I can say is I'll bet most of us would really appreciate the smell of the ocean and Kohr's frozen custard right now. Then again maybe I'll wait. You know what will happen if we all rush to the boardwalk at once.
