State Senator Steve Oroho and two other state senators say a new report does not absolve the Murphy Administration for almost 6,000 Covid-19 deaths in New Jersey long term care facilities. The "rapid review" was paid for with $500,000 of tax payer dollars. The report says New Jersey nursing homes were not prepared for outbreaks of Covid-19 in their facilities. Then goes on to say the state prioritized sending protective equipment to hospitals instead of nursing homes during the crisis period. Senator Oroho, Senator Declan O'Scanlon and Senator Kristin Corrado responded to the report by saying it "attempts to shift the blame for thousands of nursing home deaths to anyone but the governor." They say the report "glosses over the fact that the Murphy Administration forced our LTC facilities to admit Covid-19 patients, which lead to thousands of deaths. With that glaring deficiency the entire report is suspect." The senators are calling for a legislative investigation with subpoena authority to look into the Murphy Administration's handling of the public health crisis.
