The last few years I've taken vacation time and gone away for a few days around July 4th. Last year we went to Hershey, and the year before that I visited my cousin in Los Angeles. While my daughter was living on Long Island I would go to see her over July 4th weekend. So this is the first July 4th weekend I've been home for quite a while. I'd rather be taking a trip but we take life as it comes. Even though I stayed close to home. I would have to say this weekend was stress free and very relaxing. Everything just fell into place. I got home from WSUS early on Friday. Which gave me a chance to mow the lawn and start cleaning the pool. Saturday morning I helped Kim's boyfriend clear out a corner of the yard that was totally overgrown with invasive shrubs and weeds. We cut down two trees there a few years ago and then the other unwanted foliage took over. It was nice to have that all done by 10 o'clock Saturday morning. So with the pool looking great and the outside projects done. The rest of the weekend was for fun and relaxation. My daughter Kim was in the patriotic spirit. She used washable hair dye give Gracie bright red hair and put an adorable July 4th onesie on Christopher. The pool water was perfect. Crystal clear and not too cold. We spent hours enjoying the water on Saturday and Sunday. Over the years maintaining our pool has turned me into a very good amateur chemist. One more wonderful thing took place this weekend. For the first time since March the United Methodist Church of Matamoras had worship service inside our church. We socially distanced and wore our masks. I think everyone who came to the service was very happy to be there. I know I was.
