Going to church this weekend probably saved my garden. One of the most famous bible quotes is "You reap what you sow." Actually, there are several parables that tie in faith with farming or gardening. One of those parables was part of this Sunday's church service at the church I go to in Matamoras. Part of the parable was about how weeds can choke off a garden. I've been putting off weeding my pepper and tomato gardens for a couple of weeks. That parable was my inspiration to make sure my pepper and tomato plants were not being choked off by weeds. Luckily, I got out there when I did. Weeds were in fact over taking over. Hopefully, I got there in time and my tomato and pepper plants will recover. I had some surprise visits this weekend too. Both of my sons stopped by on Saturday. Matt left a few minutes before James came by. I did manage to get a nice "3 generations" picture with James. Then I met my friend Gary Cee for ice cream and coffee at The Riverside Creamery in Port Jervis. Gary was on our sister station WNNJ for many years. It was great to see him. The latest "grandchildren" news is about little Gracie. My daughter entered her in a Christmas photo modeling contest from local photographer Sarah Jane. Gracie won a free Christmas Photo package. We got the pictures on Saturday. The photos were wonderful. My special weekend dish was inspired by the ridiculous boycott of Goya Foods. Which is a great company based in New Jersey. So it's been a while since I made Goya yellow chicken flavor rice. I bought a few boxes this weekend. Then made one box with a small fresh green pepper from my garden on Sunday. My family loved it!
