The dangerous tides and currents of the Delaware River have taken another life. The third person to drown in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area this summer. On Saturday a 51 year old man from New York City drowned after falling out of his tube near Tocks Island. On Monday evening a 32 year old man from Marshall's Creek, Pennsylvania drowned near the Walpack Bend. He was swimming with friends who pulled him to the shore after he went under. Once again people on the shore attempted CPR immediately. The park service did not release the name of the young man who drowned. He was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Medical Center. He was swimming without a life jacket. Chief Ranger Eric Lisnik urged all swimmers to wear a life jacket saying:" The river current is strong a swift, despite calm appearances in some areas, and the depth can change suddenly, often going from knee deep to over your head in a single step."
