A statement from Jefferson Township Police says a 3 year old boy was pulled unconscious from Lake Hopatcong late Tuesday afternoon. Then died later in the evening at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover. A fisherman on the lake recovered the toddler from the water. Three Jefferson Township Police Officers responded to Capp Beach at around 6:30 and performed C.P.R. The child was then rushed to the hospital. The death of the toddler is not considered suspicious. Jefferson Police did not identify the child or provide any further information about the tragedy in their statement. Detective Tim Hecht is handling the investigation.
