My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Electric Grill In The Rain Fun.

This weekend we may not have traveled far distance wise, but we still tried hard to make every minute and mile count. We enjoyed fun times with friends and laughed along the way, sometimes at my expense but all good! We will start my Epic Weekend In Pictures with Friday afternoon. After filling in for Steve Andrews and our 102.3 WSUS Morning Show last week a few days, I was definitely ready for a Friday Happy Hour beverage. Awesome Girlfriend Megan and I stopped by The Irish Cottage Inn and enjoyed a drink with friends. I got Meg a Peach Sangria which is now quietly becoming one of her favorite go to drinks. We started off by seeing friends at The Cottage, then went back home to see our friends at Moonshine Tiki Bar. We had a wonderful Friday night seeing friends.

Saturday morning, I continued my odd habit of having typical lunch / dinner meals for breakfast. I think it goes back to my days over 10 years ago in Boston producing morning radio shows. When you're up at 3am everyday, and then restaurants drop off nice food by 7:30, you're more than ready for dinner food even before 8am. One of my old Program Director friends said to me years ago "once you do morning radio, you're ruined forever." So true! I went out to get me and Meg some coffees, then I got a plain roast beef sub. Yes, I at times eat plain roast beef subs, with no toppings whatsoever. I'm a freak! My close friends often bust on me for being able to eat pretty much anything for breakfast.

Saturday later morning, despite the bad weather forecast of showers on and off all day, we still took Jasen and Brendan to the gorgeous Vista Pool at Crystal Springs. On our way there, we had my weekly Saturday morning check in call with Madre back home. Right before I called her, Megan, Jasen, and Brendan were busting on me for my typical bizarre breakfast preferences. They asked me per usual "what is wrong with me?" I then confided to them a story. When I was a little kid in the early 80s, at times I had a habit of chewing on window sills. I still don't know why little Stevie did that. Since this was the early 80s, the window sills I were often chewing were likely lead based stained. This might explain some of my strange behaviors 30 plus years later. When we called Madre for the check in call, everyone was cracking up and she immediately confirmed, "Yes, Steve did chew on window sills when he was little, we still don't know why, but we wrote it down in his baby book."

After that phone call to start our weekend, I knew it was going to be Epic with moments of comedy gold throughout.

Saturday afternoon we had a great day in the pool. Even when the rain was drizzling, between our umbrellas we were almost covered anyway. Seeing our friends faces light up when they saw the gorgeous Vista Pool overlooking Wild Turkey Golf Course and the mountains beyond was just so awesome. We had delicious food and beverages poolside while relaxing and laughing. I'm a nerd. When I see new people in the pool, I offer to take their pictures and always make sure that we get the Golf Course in the background. People ask if I'm a professional. They probably think I'm weird. If only they knew I chewed on window sills when I was a little kid.

Saturday afternoon we then transitioned over to The Biosphere pool at Crystal Springs. We noticed they had a slide, so all of us turned into kids and started having fun flying down the slide. We just all looked at each other and cracked up over how silly we were being. Talk about therapeutic. We can all use more days like that. More laughs, smiles with our loved ones. We certainly don't take these days for granted that's for sure.

Saturday night, time to grill at my place. I had my electric grill cranked for a solid half hour, well over 450 degrees which is about as warm as you can get the electric grill. Jasen and Brendan came over with more steaks to add to the Filet Mignon steaks I bought from Sussex Meat Packing. Things were looking great.

Until the sky opened up on us. Within seconds, it went from cloudy and overcast, to torrential downpours. This poses for quite the dangerous challenge when grilling with an electric grill outdoors in the rain. There's a deck above my deck but it doesn't give any protection from the rain whatsoever. This now became a much more challenging mission. I kept trying to dry off my electric grill while the rain was pouring down on me with a towel. The grill wouldn't get back much more warmer than 250 degrees due to the rain conditions.

I'm happy to report that the steaks still came out delicious! Well worth the risk of electrocuting myself and almost frying my grill. I was very happy that I made it out of that Epic adventure unscathed and my grill seems to be okay. Yes it would have been much smarter to try and wait 30-60 minutes until the rain stopped. But we hate eating late at night!!!! I know, I'm a freak. I can eat heavy ridiculous food for breakfast yet at night I'm not hungry and often can't eat anything. I apparently did intermittent fasting before it became cool and trendy. Go figure.

Sunday morning while we were watching NFL Network coverage of training camps I actually asked Awesome Girlfriend Megan to join me for a nap where I tried sleeping. I think allergies are bad for many this week.

Sunday afternoon Meg and I went to The Cottage for our Sunday farewell beer. It always helps me when I get her 15 minutes closer to her home on her 54 minute ride back to Hackettstown.

Sunday night saw Jasen and Brendan and ended up stumbling on a show that showcases fancy swimming pools. For some strange reason after being in gorgeous pools all weekend I wanted to see more gorgeous pools. LOL.

Overall, we had a fantastic weekend with friends. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too. Time to start planning next weekend and it'll likely be Epic - me on a raft on the Delaware Water Gap - and I can't swim. #WhatCanPossiblyGoWrong, right?
