Republicans still hope to win one more N.J. Congressional seat

Tom Kean Jr. son of popular former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean still has a chance to win his race in the 7th Congressional District against incumbent Democrat Tom Malinowski. On Election Night the Associated Press called the race for Malinowski with 60 percent of the votes counted. At the time Kean refused to concede. His campaign manager said there were way too many ballots to be counted. Noting there was a heavy Republican turnout in the days leading up to Election Day. Since Election Night votes being counted in Union and Somerset Counties have in fact turned out to be heavily Republican. As of Friday Night Malinowski's lead was cut to 4,327 votes with about 97 percent of the vote counted. The Associated Press is standing by it's call but the New York Times is now saying the race is too close to call. There's a very good chance the 7th Congressional District could be decided by less than 1,000 votes. This has traditionally been a Republican District until 2018 when Malinowski defeated long time Republican Congressman Leonard Lance. The final results of the race aren't expected until November 20th.
