Iconic Nabisco Plant in Fair Lawn might be closing

It's ironic. This week I've been asking Jersey Strong "Made in Jersey" food trivia questions on the WSUS Morning Show. My research into food products made and packaged at plants in New Jersey has revealed a sad fact. Food manufacturing companies that have been leaving our state in alarming number. There aren't many left and now another one might be leaving. The iconic Nabisco bakery and packaging plant on Route 208 in Fair Lawn might be closing next year. A spokesperson for Mondelez International, the parent company of Nabisco, told NJ.COM no final decision has been made. The reason for closing the plant which opened in 1958 would be because of outdated "manufacturing facilities and infrastructure." It would be very sad if this happens. High taxes and cost of doing business in New Jersey might be another reason companies are choosing to move rather than update their facilities. Enjoy the smell of those cookies baking when you drive by while you can.
