It's this side of all the lockdowns and shut downs not too many people want to talk about. The story most of the news media has tried to brush over the last 8 months. Real families and real people loosing their businesses and stable jobs. According to a story yesterday posted on NorthJersey.Com food pantries and soup kitchens across New Jersey are seeing double, even triple the volume from last year. We are used to food pantries helping homeless people, veterans, people with emotional difficulties and families going through temporary hard times. This year all over New Jersey food pantries are seeing people and families who have lost income or jobs because of COVID-19 business closings and shut downs. The massive unemployment has students, teachers, construction workers, nurses, service workers, hospitality workers and other professionals waiting in line and still more are coming. A few years ago Kim Guadagno was the lieutenant governor of New Jersey. She ran and lost to current Governor Phil Murphy. Today she is the CEO of the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County. She said: "You walk a box of food out to a family and you think to yourself, what a nice car. Then you pop the trunk and put the food in and you realize there's a mattress and three kids inside. They're living in the car."
