I've been with you mornings on WSUS for 30 years

Bill Snouffer and Steve Allan kicked off "Steve Andrews" week yesterday on WSUS. I want to thank them both for being wonderful friends over the years. I seriously doubt I would have been on the WSUS morning show for 30 years without them. Back on February 1st 1991 my wife and I were living around the corner from WSUS. I was the WSUS mid day host and Production Director. Our studios were on Main Street in Franklin. We lived on Junction Street in a small one bedroom apartment. I remember turning the corner at 4:30 that morning. It was bitter cold and I thought to myself. "I hope they find someone to do this soon." Frank Garrity had been the morning show host on WSUS for 9 years. He was moving on to WPAT. Frank would go on to do sports on New York's legendary 1010 WINS for almost 15 years. I've known Frank since my days a Seton Hall's WSOU. His recommendation was a big part of why Peter Bardach and Jay Edwards hired me back in 1983. I made many mistakes as a young broadcaster. Peter and Jay stood by me through them all with tough love and patience. Over these past 30 years I've worked with many other wonderful people. I don't have pictures of all of them. Tom Kennedy was my first Program Director at WTBQ and later we worked together at WSUS. Vince Thomas, a true friend, who we lost to cancer over 10 years ago. Dave Margalotti who was my Program Director when some huge storms hit us in the 1990's. During one of those storms I remember co-workers sleeping in the lobby of the radio station because power was out for several days. Then for the past 7 years very funny and very smart Steve Allan has kept me on my toes. Then there were many great "sidekicks." Steve Spadifino the original other "Steve" You never knew what he was going to say and listeners loved it. I came through some very rough times personally in the late 90's. Kevin McCardle was on mornings with me back then. He carried me through each show with his kindness, talent and sense of humor. Some of my favorite live broadcasts have been at Franklin Sussex Auto Mall. Where I've helped give away many of Bill Snouffer's cars and met some of my favorite baseball players. Speaking of baseball throwing out the first pitch at Sussex County Miners Games too. I've enjoyed broadcasting at every New Jersey State Fair since 1984. I've loved doing live broadcasts and videos at Space Farms. Visiting Lori's baby tigers and going into the snake pit with Parker. The snowstorms have always been an adventure. The hurricanes and Super Storm Sandy were very rough. Being able to use my morning show to help our community has been the best part of all. Every year hundreds of families have benefited from "Stuff the Bus." At Christmas time, the WSUS Kids Christmas Concert Series tops my list of favorites. I know I've missed many wonderful people with this post. Just know I appreciate all of you. Over 7 Thousand Morning Shows in the books and I'm hoping for a few thousand more. Please take a look at the pictures with this post. They're proof that it wasn't too long ago that I had nice wavy hair.
