Sparta Police will not charge man who threatened schools

We don't know much about the man who made a threatening post directed at Sparta Schools on Facebook this past Friday. Sparta Police have identified the man and completed their investigation. Friday's social media post said people should "knock down the doors of BOE members and union leaders" because a return to in person learning was taking too long. Lt. John Lamon told the New Jersey Herald detectives identified the man and contacted him. He lives in Wall Township in Monmouth County and has no ties to Sparta. He claimed he was just "venting" and had no intention to come to Sparta. Lamon said his only tie is that he is friends with someone in a Facebook Group. The man has been warned to stay off school property. Wall Township Police have been notified. They will be doing a wellness check to make sure he is not a threat to himself or others according to Lamon.
