According to a press release from the Board of Commissioners Sussex County has received it's first batch of the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine from the State of New Jersey. The county's Department of Health and Human Services Administrator Carol Novrit says the new vaccine is "portable" ad public health nurses will be "targeting the homebound population." So far the county has 100 doses of the vaccine. Seniors served by Meals on Wheels and homebound seniors who live in subsidized housing will have the vaccine taken to them by the county's team of public health nurses. Novrit went on to say when the next doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine arrive the county's homebound and disabled population will be vaccinated. She did not know when the next doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine would be arriving. County Commissioner Anthony Fasano said "The arrival of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is significant for Sussex County, as it will go a long way in ensuring our most vulnerable populations have access to the vaccine even if that means we have to come to their doorstep.
