West Milford Police have charged Anthony Serpe of Greenwood Lake with third degree water pollution and fourth degree unlicensed transport of solid waste. On Tuesday a resident called police after allegedly witnessing a septic truck driver dump a "substantial" amount of raw sewage into a storm drain at the corner of William and Center Streets. When police arrived the driver and truck were gone. However, there was still raw sewage in the catch basin. The resident provided police with a picture of the truck and driver. Serpe was later pulled over in the truck on Route 23 in Riverdale. Police believe he was using his company vehicle and pumping out septic systems in the area to earn extra cash on the side without permission. The septic company was not charged or named by police. The storm drain emptied into West Milford Lake.
