Wednesday Night the Sussex County Board of Commissioners called for a public question on the November 2nd ballot which would allow voters to decide if there should be a bi partisan independent investigation into how the Murphy Administration handled the COVID 19 crisis in New Jersey Nursing Homes. The vote was unanimous. Since the start of the pandemic more than 8 thousand residents of New Jersey Nursing Homes have died from COVID 19. The highest state death toll in the United States. The ballot question would ask voters for a "yes" or "no" answer. Commissioner Dawn Fantasia summarized her reasons for supporting the ballot question by noting that state Attorney General Grewal's investigation into the deaths at Andover Sub Acute facilities does not necessarily address the state's culpability as the jurisdiction "charged with the oversight into these private nursing homes." She called it an "appearance of conflict" with Grewal a Murphy appointee investigating the state's role. Commissioner Chris Carney commented "Over a year later, what we do know is the public still doesn't have answers to all the questions." Commissioner Anthony Fasano added: "I think it's time we ask our residents if they want us to proceed. In fact, I think it's beyond time."
