U.S. News and World Report has just released their annual list of the 500 healthiest communities in the United States. Out of the top 500 Sussex County came in at number 142. Three other New Jersey Counties ranked higher than Sussex. Hunterdon County came in at 15, Morris County came in at 25 and Somerset County was ranked 51. Alex Matthews data editor for U.S. News and World Report said the top communities on the list all have "strong economies" and are "doing well getting young people educated." Higher than average vaccination rates also added to a community's higher score. Sussex County scored highest in economy, education and equity.
