It's almost fall. September weekends are the time to start getting the outside of the house ready for winter. The pool was closed Labor Day Weekend, After this weekend, I'm almost done with the most dreaded fall project of them all: Staining the decks and railroad ties around my house. I don't do all of them every year. Just the ones that need it. Everything in the front of my house needs to be done right now. This weekend I made great progress. Meanwhile, I volunteered to help with another project at my church. Saturday morning I was one of three members of the congregation who started replacing the flooring in the fellowship hall kitchen. The old floor has to be at least 50 years old. The new floor is vinyl. There was a lot to measure. We are half way done. It's going to look beautiful when we finish. My grand kids went to a birthday party on Sunday. The family having the party raises chickens for eggs. Christopher was hilarious. He's used to dogs but he has never seen live chickens before. Miss Gracie loved seeing her friends and the pinata. My favorite moment of the weekend happened Saturday Night. Kim and her boyfriend took Gracie out to eat. They wanted to give her some alone time with mommy and daddy. Christopher stayed home with me and Denise. I cooked some Goya Spanish rice for us. I guess the smell got my grandson hungry. So he climbed up on my lap, grabbed my fork and started chowing down. It was comical.
