Bald Eagle population still on the rise in New Jersey

A few decades ago the pesticide DDT almost wiped out the bald eagle population in New Jersey and the parts of the country. Now bald eagles are continuing their impressive comeback. The annual New Jersey Fish and Wildlife report says 27 new eagles pairs were observed by volunteers across the state. There were 222 active nests. Which is 4 more than last year. Sussex County now has 11 nests, Warren County has 6 and Morris County also has 9. To put the most recent report into perspective. About 20 years ago there were only 2 nesting pairs of bald eagles reported in all of northern New Jersey.
