Area first responders called to this year's first river rescue

As temperatures climbed into the 70's yesterday afternoon first responders along the Delaware River in Port Jervis and Matamoras were called to their first river rescue. April is a little early in the year for this to happen but teams and boats were ready. Social media posts and a couple of first responders I talked to said it was kayakers who needed help. All were wearing life jackets and everyone is safe. Just a couple of quick reminders: Always wear a life jacket when you head out on the Delaware River. Also, the river water is still very cold even if the outside temperature gets hot for a few days.
