A major effort to catch toll evaders at Hudson River crossings is underway

A major crackdown on drivers trying to avoid paying tolls at area bridges and tunnels has started. Port Authority Police confiscated 30 fake license plates and vehicles at the George Washington Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel on Monday. In total 142 summonses were issued to drivers. Critics have been calling for a crackdown like this for a long time. Recent improvements in technology and better training of law enforcement officers is helping catch more toll evaders.
