Six Flags Great Adventure will add a "boomerang" roller coaster this summer

Six Flags Great Adventure will open for it's 50th season this Saturday. The park will be open weekends only for now. This summer the theme park will debut a 15th roller coaster. Which is under construction now. The Flash Virtual Velocity will reach speeds of up to 70 miles in less than 4 seconds. Riders will travel up a 185 foot corkscrew. Then head backward toward the station. On the way they will encounter a second 185 foot tower. The ride completes this course 2 and a half times. Moving along 2,700 feet of track in 45 seconds. The park's website says: "It's like throwing a totally virtual free fall into the middle of a roller coaster." I'll bet roller coaster lovers will be waiting on long lines all summer. A press release describes the design as a "super boomerang coaster." The first one in North America and only the second one like it in the world.
