All summer long thousands of tourists visit the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the beautiful sights of the Upper Delaware. Sadly, every year in spite of signs and warnings, people are deceived by the calm appearance of the river. This past Saturday a young swimmer at Milford Beach became the Delaware's latest victim. The body Jeysson Ariel Osorio-Reyes a 24 year old man from Jackson Township, New Jersey was removed from the river just before sunset. Reyes was last seen swimming about 75 yards from the shoreline a few hours earlier. First Responders who came out to the scene included dive teams from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Milford, Port Jervis and Bushkill. Please wear a life jacket anytime you plan to swim in the Delaware. The currents mid channel are very strong. Which makes the very dangerous to all swimmers young and old.
