The remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl, which made landfall as a Category One hurricane in Texas, are expected to reach New Jersey tomorrow. The storm has left millions without power and claimed at least four lives in Texas. As it moves northeast, it brings the potential for heavy rain and flooding to New Jersey.
"It won’t be a tropical storm or hurricane when it reaches North Jersey, it will just be showers," said National Weather Service meteorologist Allison Lancia to northjersey.com. "These showers are expected Wednesday night into Thursday."
The storm's arrival coincides with a heat advisory in effect for all New Jersey counties except Cape May, as the state experiences a fifth consecutive day of temperatures in the 90s. More rain is forecast for the weekend.
In Texas, efforts to restore power to the 2.7 million affected customers will take multiple days, according to state officials. The storm has also resulted in downed trees and power lines across the Greater Houston area.
