Route 23 northbound in Wantage, New Jersey, is set to close tomorrow at mile post 45.2 for a slope reinforcement project. The travel lane and shoulder on Route 23 northbound will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday (July 10), north of CR 519 at milepost 42.5.

The closure is necessary to install temporary traffic signals, place construction barriers, and establish a work zone in the Route 23 northbound lane and shoulder. Traffic will alternate during construction, which is expected to be completed by fall 2024. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays while driving through the work zone.

The $13.1 million state-funded project aims to clean and rehabilitate stormwater facilities across various locations in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties. Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
