Well this was definitely an Epic Weekend In Pictures that I'll never forget! It was a wonderful, Jersey summer style weekend where I was able to enjoy great times with friends, and continue my stint as learning zookeeper in training at Space Farms Zoo & Museum. I tried to become one with the bears and ended up feeding them at Space Farms Zoo & Museum. My friends Parker and Hunter Space have been very patient with me for many years as I try to learn being an assistant zookeeper.
Saturday was National Teddy Bear Day, and kids who brought their stuffed teddy bears were able to get free admission. It was so adorable watching kids after kids after kids show up with their stuffed teddy bears. Tough to believe I've been living here in New Jersey for over ten years dodging bears. I just drove by one on my drive into work this morning! Everyone has fun running into me at events saying "hey Steve Allan look there's a bear right behind you!" LOL. Every August, we have a tradition with my friends at Space Farms Zoo & Museum on National Teddy Bear Day, where kids get in for free if they bring their stuffed teddy bears with them. We had a fantastic turnout! This year, I went all out trying to get the Bears to like me. I bought both steaks and a frozen salmon for the bears. That's right, I gave them surf and turf this year! Steve Andrews recently went to Space Farms and learned that the Kodiak Bears wave at you just like people do. They were perfect for our Facebook Live video! I threw them steaks, salmon, and ice cream sandwiches too! My attempt to become one with the bears appeared to be pretty successful. They apparently start to warm up to me when I feed them out at the zoo! Last year, one of them just simply walked away from a steak I threw to them. This year, the bears were definitely interested in the food I was throwing to them. I had pretty decent form throwing football like spirals of the ice cream cones to the bears. You can see our Facebook Live video below! It was a wonderful day seeing so many happy, smiling families. Saturday was definitely a day I'll never forget. I'm hopeful that the bears won't forget me being nice and feeding them!
Sunday I was able to go over to Crystal Springs Vista 180 Pool with besties Shawn, Stacey and Ruby. They had family visiting from the city and were having so much fun taking in all of our beauty here. The weather was perfect for a fun pool day, that's for sure!
Sunday night my sister was FaceTiming me from the Kenny Chesney concert at Gillette Stadium up in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Last weekend I saw many of my Jersey friends enjoying Kenny Chesney at MetLife, this weekend I saw many of my Massachusetts friends enjoying Kenny Chesney at Gillette. Next year I'll be going for sure!
Overall I had a great weekend. Time to start planning next weekend with my parents visiting me. Yikes, that means I need to start cleaning ASAP! Time to deep dive clean!!!
