Newton Fire Department puts out fire and rescues three family pets

The fire was quickly spreading when Newton's volunteer firefighters arrived at a home at Hillside Terrace. It was almost 4AM and they were told three pets were still trapped inside. The volunteers searched for the missing cats and dog as the fire spread to a front bedroom and second floor. Meanwhile, other firefighters started to put out the fire thanks to a hose line on the second floor. When the fire was successfully put out first responders found all three pets alive. They were showing signs of smoke inhalation but otherwise OK. Volunteer firefighters and first responders in our area leave their families and homes any time of the day or night to rescue their neighbors and pets. To every volunteer out there THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO.
