New Jersey officials have announced a series of voter protection measures ahead of the state's early voting period, which begins on Saturday. For the first time, residents will be able to cast their votes for president early in person. The state has already received around half of the more than one million mail-in ballots it sent out.

Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way stated that they have prepared for physical and cybersecurity issues and have worked with the counties to ensure the security of ballot drop boxes. They also have systems in place to protect the integrity of mail-in ballots and the rights of voters.

According to the New Jersey Division of Elections, the early voting period will run from October 26 to November 3. The deadline to apply for a Mail-In Ballot by mail for the General Election is October 29.

In a press release, Lieutenant Governor Way said, "We continue to make it convenient for New Jersey’s eligible voters to exercise their right to vote. They can choose to participate in the early voting period, use a mail-in ballot, or come out on Election Day.”

A recent Monmouth University Poll shows that more than 40% of registered voters plan to vote early or by mail.
