March is Women's History Month. I'll bet you don't know all of them.
1. Coffee Filters-invented by German business owner Melitta Bentz in 1908
2. Windshield Wipers- in 1903 Mary Anderson patented a device to clean rain, snow and ice from car windshields.
3. Beer- 7 Thousand years ago in Mesopotamia only women were allowed to brew beer for taverns
4. Chocolate Chip Cookies- At the Toll House Inn Ruth Wakefield ran out of baker's chocolate for cookies and substituted a crumbled up Nestle's Chocolate Bar. Instead of melting the "chips" stayed together creating our favorite cookies.
5. Modern Electric Refrigerators-Florence Parpart invented the modern refrigerator in 1914 but it took many years for them to eventually replace ice boxes.
6. Computer Software- Dr. Grace Hopper invented the first ever business friendly computer software back in the 1950. She was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year.
