Police were called to Franklin pond beach over a woman breastfeeding her child in public. No state nor local laws were violated. Since 1997, New Jersey state law has supported public breastfeeding. Police assured resident Michelle Ayala that she had done nothing wrong. Nearby residents asked her to "cover up," which she refused to do. Apparently the first week of August is also World Breastfeeding Week. I'm learning new things everyday! Since law is on her side the legal issues are moot. My question? The kid is two years old. How old is too old for breastfeeding? Most of my female friends I'm asking use the rule of thumb that "if the kid has teeth, then he or she might be too old for breastfeeding." Apparently in some parts of the world they breastfeed kids until they're 6 years old!
