It's so important that we are careful with so many phone and e-mail scams happening these days. In Sussex County we have reportedly seen a spike in phone scams which sound very frightening. These phone scammers are calling unsuspecting victims demanding money while pretending to be local law officers and they're even using real names of our officers. To make matters even worse, they apparently have hacked the caller ID system where the phone call even appears as if it's coming from an official local government agency. Just like with those annoying IRS tax scam phone calls demanding money immediately or else you'll be thrown in jail, we must remember government does not directly solicit money.
