Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart Were Both Hacked on Twitter

This is so messed up. Riverdale co-stars and real-life couple Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart were both hacked on Twitter this week. Cole's account was hacked first on Monday (Aug. 13) with the hackers making lewd comments about his days on Disney Channel, as well as his twin brother Dylan Sprouse's girlfriend Barbara Palvin. It was all kinds of icky.

After Cole's account was hacked, Lili took to Twitter to clap back at the people responsible for the whole situation. "Cole's Twitter has been hacked BTW. F--k people who do that, seriously." Shortly after posting about the hack, Lili's account was also compromised. It appears that their accounts were taken over by the same people, although that has yet to be confirmed.

"Shouldn't have talked s--t about us, here's to lili fans found this masterpiece in iCloud," the hackers said in a tweet on Lili's account. They shared a nude photo of a woman, implying it was the 21-year-old actress. The photo wasn't of Lili, though. It was later reported the photo was of an adult film star. Regardless, it's still a complete invasion of her privacy.

The act of creating extremely realistic fake photos of celebrities is a new trend known as "deepfakes," according to Mashable. The technology is being used in disturbing ways, such as how it was used to create fake nude photos of Lili Reinhart. This is a deeply troubling trend because, as Mashable points out, "a person who has not consented to a sexual situation should not be put into that situation, whether in physical or virtual life."

It looks like Lili's Twitter has been temporarily taken down following the hack. E! reports that her Snapchat and Tumblr accounts were also hacked. Her sister, Tess Reinhart, made a statement about the ordeal on Instagram Story. "A PSA: Everyone in my family, including Lili, knows that her accounts are hacked. Thank you for trying to let us know, she's getting the situation handled."

Neither Lili or Cole have released an official statement about the unfortunate situation. Hopefully everything gets sorted out ASAP and this violation of privacy doesn't happen again.
