Florence Welch Shows Her Shy Side During Tiny Desk Concert

Florence Welch is known for her outspoken personality and energetic live shows; however, during a recent trip to NPR's office for an intimate Tiny Desk concert, the Florence + The Machine front woman showed a different side of herself.

"I'm sorry I'm shy," she told the crowd of NPR staff, friends and family before delving into a stripped down, three-song set. "If this was a big gig, I'd probably be climbing all over here and running around."

She and her band then jumped into "June," off their latest album, High as Hope. Welch looked timid as she sang with her eyes closed. As the set continued, she loosened up a little during "Patricia," also off the new album. By the time the band performed their third song, "Ship to Wreck" off 2015's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, Welch had found her groove, though she was still humble and reserved as she smiled and nodded in response to the crowd's uproarious applause.

Watch the full 14-minute-long performance below.

Florence + The Machine are wrapping up their North American tour in support of High as Hope. They're currently traversing the east coast before playing their final show in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 20th.
