Two local hospitals make U.S. News and World's "Best" list

Every year U.S. News and World Report looks at the care provided by more than 4,500 hospitals across the country. Morristown Medical Center was the only hospital in New Jersey to make the top 50 in the U.S. for heart surgery and cardiology. Ranked at number 26. The hospital also made the top 50 for orthopedics at number 34. Morristown Medical Center was also one of only 57 hospitals across the country to be recognized for all 9 procedures and conditions ranked in the report. Newton Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center were recognized as "high performing" in their care of patients with heart failure. Chilton's care of COPD patients also received recognition as "high performing." All three hospitals are part of Atlantic Health System. U.S. News and World Report has been doing there "Best Hospitals" rankings for the past 30 years.
