Mike Masters served as a Hardyston Police officer for almost 11 years before he was placed placed on involuntary disability retirement by the township committee last year. He was arrested at his family home in Hampton Township on July 30th after allegedly assaulting his wife in front of their 10 year old daughter. This afternoon Judge Thomas Critchley will decide if Masters must await his trial in the county jail or be released. He is facing charges of child endangerment and simple assault. State police responded to a 911 call made by Master's 10 year old daughter on July 30th. According to the police report Master's and his wife were "struggling" over his cell phone on the floor when the little girl called. The responding state police officer also said Mrs. Master's arm was slightly swollen and discolored.
