Baby Cougar born at Space Farms

Congratulations Space Family! I was one of the first to know but I couldn't say anything. Lori Space Day stopped by Subaru World of Newton on Saturday to share the news. I got a glimpse of baby Juniper in the front seat of Lori's car. The tiny baby cougar wrapped in a blanket in a cardboard box was only a day old. Juniper is the first cougar/mountain lion born at Space Farms in 43 years. Her parents Chippewa and Renegade were brought to Space Farms from a zoo in Ohio last year. Parker Space told the New Jersey Herald Juniper was the only healthy baby born this time. Renegade and Chippewa could have more offspring in the future. Parker said Juniper will be a great "educational addition" to the zoo. She will stay at Space Farms through May of 2020. Then she could be sent to a different zoo to help increase mountain lion population in other parts of the country. Let's enjoy her while we have her. Space Farms is having another Junior Zookeeper's Day this Saturday.
