Amtrak Train slams into disabled car near Princeton

Fortunately, no one was hurt Tuesday night when a drunk driver left her disabled vehicle on the train tracks just north of the Princeton Junction Train Station. The driver called police around midnight and dispatchers frantically attempted to stop all train traffic along the tracks. Only minutes later, Amtrak Train 639 en route to Philadelphia from New York slammed into the car at a high rate of speed. The driver and officers took cover in their cars and behind a concrete abutment before the collision sent heavy debris from the car n all directions. What was left of the car careened into a police patrol car. The 23 year old driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless driving. The locomotive and several train cars sustained major damage.
