Liam Payne Seemingly Confirms One Direction Doc For Band's 10th Anniversary

One Direction Performs On ABC's "Good Morning America"

One Direction could be getting a documentary this summer!

Bandmate Liam Payne reportedly spilled the beans on a potential film project in the works to celebrate the band’s upcoming 10-year anniversary. According to JustJared, the “Strip That Down” crooner teased as much while promoting his debut album, LP1, during a recent interview with Dubai’s City Times.

While reminiscing on the last time he and his former bandmates — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson— visited the country, Payne admitted, “it’s hard for me to remember specific gigs because it was a blur of planes and sound checks and screams.” As quoted in a Tumblr post, it was also at this point that Payne supposedly let this slip about the project, saying, “I think we filmed that show and it will be part of a documentary around an anniversary.”

As fans know, the “What Makes You Beautiful” five-piece first launched in 2010 after finishing third on The X Factor. After five years as a group, Zayn would announce his retirement from One Direction just a year before the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Since then, the remaining members have all pursued solo careers. Zayn was the first to release his debut album, Mind of Mine, in 2016, and followed with 2018’s Icarus Falls. Horan and Styles both issued debut albums in 2017. In December 2019, Styles returned with his follow-up Fine Line just as Payne unveiled his debut, LP1. As yet, Tomlinson’s debut is slated to drop January 31.
