Fans have waited nearly 5 years for the return of Selena Gomez to the headphones. In 2015 the artist released her sophomore album, Revival, which was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In just a few days fans can expect to vibe out to the 11 track album, Rare, which a source has revealed to ET that this album will be "a different side of Selena and very personal."
Over the last few days, Selena, has shared glimpses of the new album on Instagram through a series of portrait photos. The first image, a shot of Gomez laying on a bed, was captioned, ”Feels so good to dance again #7DaysToRare.”
The next, an image of the singer sprawled on the floor said, "If the only other option’s letting go – I’ll stay vulnerable. #6DaysToRare.”
"People can go from people you know to people you don’t. #5DaysToRare," accompanied the latest image of Gomez clothed in a bathtub.
Selena opened up in the course of an interview disclosing her personal feelings and approach to the upcoming album. “The rest of [the album] is very much where I am, however that looks," she said.
"I spent years living in fear of speaking up or saying things and I guess that's just the people-pleaser in me," the 27-year-old expressed.
“And there was a huge moment where I just stopped caring, and I can't tell you when that moment was, I really can't."
Over the past couple of years, Selena has been dropping hints and singles from her album. She has been public about her need to indulge in self-care time and sources have agreed that it has payed off. Last February, a source told US Weekly that “Selena is focusing on her mental health and has been reading, exercising, eating well and spending time with her close friends and family.”
“[She’s] paying most of her attention to her own well-being and doesn’t want that infringed upon. She’s great and in a really good place."
Last year, following a lengthy social media hiatus, Selena wrote a special message to her followers reminding thanking them for their love and support.
"It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support. Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all."
